PEARSON TEST OF ENGLISH
PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English) is an English proficiency test which evaluates the willingness of a person who is not from an English speaking country to participate in an English learning session, so as to improve upon the language for, either getting an admission to a university in an English speaking country, or to immigrate to a foreign land, where the medium of communication is English. The test was developed, based on the needs that different institutions, governments or companies from native English speaking countries had put forward for a more full proof way to judge a candidate more accurately on their communication skills in English.
PTE has been recognized by various institutions in the UK and USA like Yale University, Stanford Graduate School of Business and Harvard Business School in the USA, Harvard Business School and London Business School in UK. There are many other music and art universities, all across the USA and Europe who accept PTE scores submitted by their students. PTE can now be given in various test centers, located all across the globe.
The test pays attention to the real-life conversations, lectures that take place in educational institutions to make the candidates aware of the type of language that people use in an academic environment. It deals with a variety of accents and integrates various skills of communication together like reading, speaking, listening and writing. This is important, as it gives a student an opportunity to know how to communicate and express their views in a foreign university, wherein the medium of stating one’s thoughts would be in English
The test has an added voice recording of the candidate as a confirmation of the student’s identity at the time of admission. The exam is for a maximum of 3 hours and the scores that are from a scale of 10 to 90 would be declared within 5 working days.
